News Article - Coaches Thoughts - May 21, 2008

With the 2008 football season now complete, I would like to thank all the Falcons that stuck with us till the end. Being in a new league, with a new team, you have proven with a 9-win 3-loss record that the Falcons are here to compete for the title. Our league the "FFA" has done a very good job and we are looking for even better things in the 2009 season. Football is a game with three basic elements, offense, defense and special teams. In our 2008 season we were excellent in two of these elements and need to really work on one of them. Football is also a game that requires just two basic behaviors, dedication and commitment. To be a 2009 Florida Falcon you will need both! At the championship game and allstar weekend, the Falcons once again proved that we are a part of the elite and showed well the talent we bring to every game. I am extremely proud of each and every one of you and look forward to getting things started for 2009. Falcons, one team, one dream.

                                                                                     Respectfully,

                                                                                     Coach Roy

News Article - Benefit Game - May 6, 2008

Falcons on Sunday May 4th 2008 linebacker Patrick Alonso from the West Coast Bears suffered a neck injury during the FFA Allstar game. Patrick attempted to drive home but instead was airlifted back to Daytona Beach where he is in critical but stable condition. Patrick broke several vertebrae in his neck and back and was put into a halo that he will have to wear for the next 6 months to a year. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as this could have happened to anyone of us. Be ready to suit back up for a possible North vs South Benefit game to help aide the Alonso family in their time of need.

Anyone interested in donating money for the Alonso family please contact us at floridafalcons@yahoo.com. Remember this could happen to anyone of us at anytime. Please keep Patrick and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Patrick we are all pulling for you to make a fast and speedy recovery.

News Article - AFC Championship Game - Apr 18, 2008

The Florida Falcons Flight to the top ends in Palmetto, Florida ending the season with a 9-3 record.  The Falcon "road warriors" and first year program gave the Bradenton Gladiators a run for their money in the first half. The game started on a bad note allowing the Glads to return the opening kickoff 74 yards for a touchdown. The extra point was blocked by #30 William Kendrick to make the score 6-0 Glads. After a defensive battle and scorless first quarter the Falcons hit pay dirt when #85 Daniel Cooper returned a punt 68 yards for a touchdown and kicker #5 Mason Peace put the Falcons on top 7-6. The Gladiators battled back on a long time winding drive and settled for a field goal to make it 9-7 Glads. A bad punt snap exchange and fumble led to a Gladiator touchdown right before the half to make it 16-7 Bradenton at the half.

The second half showed youth and lack of a passing game as the offense was unable to move the ball. The Gladiators offense held the ball for over almost 11 minutes adding a touchdown to their lead to make it 23-7. The fourth and final quarter showed the same results with the Glads adding two more touchdowns making it 37-7. On the final drive of the game #27 Percy Brown scored the final points of the season for the falcons catching a 20 yard touchdown pass from #18 Mark Van Wechel ending the game 37-13 and ending any hopes of making it to the big dance.

The Coaching staff is very proud of the players and this inaugural season.  The 2008 Falcon football team has started a tradition and a standard for years to come. We thank you so very much for all your hard work and dedication.
