News Article - Bulldogs Lose in an Epic Battle - Dec 13, 2007

In what can only be described as one of the greatest middle school basketball games ever played, the Bulldogs came up on the short end tonight against the Cedar Heights Timberwolves.  All coaches agreed that the level of play displayed by both teams was far above than what would ever be expected from a normal eighth grade basketball game.  Cedar Heights Head Coach Ira Franklin stated, "I have coached for 23 years at the high school and middle school level.  I have refereed for many years as well.  And that is one game I would have actually paid to have seen."  Bulldogs Head Coach Tom Riddell eched Franklin's sentiment by adding, "If there was ever a game to use an example of how to run an offense correctly--choosing the right opportunities to be patient--choosing the right times to attack--that was it.  Both teams executed time and time again. That was one of the most exciting games I have ever been involved with at any level."  Although the game was a mid season middle school game, it had the overall excitement and intensity of a high school playoff game with district implications.  The Timberwolves may have been victorious tonight, but the real winner is the Kent area high schools in the coming years as these players prepare to play at the next level.
